Meet the Governors

Our Governors' common goal is to provide the best possible education for every pupil in the school. They are a group of dedicated individuals who give freely of their time and energy to work in partnership with the staff and parents.

 " ...We congratulate you on the high quality of governance shown by your governing body, which already looked good in the documentation and was confirmed by the assessment visit. In particular we were impressed with:

The close collaboration between the governors and the senior leadership team in school self-evaluation and strategic planning;

The close knowledge of the school on the part of governors, especially relating to the staffing structure, the quality of teaching, and pupil progress;

Work done by governors with the senior staff on the International Primary Curriculum;

Induction arrangements for new governors including their involvement in school visits;

The high level of trust between the governors and the Head Teacher.... “,  Phil Hand, Governor Mark

Lucie Lachnitova

Bio

Passionate about Education and hoping to make his own contribution, Bob has served on the governing bodies of nine schools over the course of 30 years - six of these chaired and two Vice Chair. Bob joined the Nightingale Governing body in 2008 and has continued as Chair ever since supporting the school through three Ofsted inspections where Governance has always been praised. For 10 years, Bob was an Ofsted Lay Inspector, taking part in over 100 inspections; he has represented Primary Schools on the Schools Forum and has previously chaired this statutory body; he has served on the Standing Advisory Council for Religious Education as a Church of England representative since its formation in 1990; has been a National Leader of Governance and in June 2015 was appointed a well deserved MBE by the Queen for services to education.

Roy first came to Nightingale Primary School in 1995 as a student teacher. Having worked in the RBG for 20 years in challenging schools in the Plumstead and Woolwich area, Nightingale remained a very special school to him. Loving the vibrancy and diverse community, Roy says he’s proud to be the headteacher as he gets to work with fantastic staff, governors, parents and children.

 Lucie has extensive education leadership and management experience and is keen to offer her insight and support to Nightingale. She also trained as a secondary school teacher and taught adults in further and higher education settings for 12 years. She is passionate about ensuring all children are given the best possible opportunity to achieve their full potential and enjoy learning.

Bio

Andy has been teaching computing at Nightingale Primary School since January 2013 and is passionate about helping everyone to fulfil their full potential with a little help from technology!

As an accountant, Julius decided to join the Nightingale governors to advise on taxation, budgeting and business related activities. A man of many talents, Julius also trained to teach and teaches children at Sunday Schools in his local church.

When Nick’s eldest son started at Nightingale, he wanted to help the school in any way he could and being a parent governor seemed like the ideal opportunity to really get involved. As an IT consultant, Nick’s delighted to offer his skills and knowledge in technology and looks forward to helping make Nightingale's future as bright as possible.
