Newsletter - 20th February 2017

Welcome Back!

Welcome back to a new term at Nightingale.  We have a new member of staff; Miss Luscombe will be teaching year 1 until the end of the academic year.  I know that you will all make her feel very welcome.

Headlice

Please be aware that we have had some children return to school with headlice.  This is not unusual and is nothing to worry about.  Please ensure that you check your child’s hair and treat accordingly.  I have provided details of treatment on the reverse of this letter.

Lost uniform

We already have a lot of lost property in school and this includes lunch boxes.  Can you please

ensure that all items belonging to your child are labelled.

Packed Lunches

Did you know that by the end of yr 6, 40% of 11 year old children in Greenwich are overweight? This is a serious issue that we all need to be mindful of and address. Packed lunches should contain:

Þ A sandwich (as a source of carbohydrate and vitamins)

Þ A piece of fruit

Þ Water

Þ Yoghurt

Þ A small treat

Miss Roberts and I conducted a random sampling of packed lunches this morning.  I was surprised to see that several lunches contained nothing but carbohydrates (croissants, and pain aux chocolate:) and that several contained bubble gum and sweets!

Many thanks for your cooperation in this matter.
