Newsletter - 9th February 2017

09/02/17

We are closed tomorrow, Friday 10th February as this is an INSET day.

Half Term

The school closes to children on Thursday 9th February and reopens on Monday 20th February.

School meal changes

There has been a change to the procedure at lunchtime.  Children who have a packed lunch will no longer be coming in with their class.  Children who have a packed lunch will come in once all hot meals have been served.  This is to ensure that lunchtimes run smoothly.

Packed Lunches

Did you know that by the end of yr 6, 40% of 11 year old children in Greenwich are overweight? This is a serious issue that we all need to be mindful of and address. Packed lunches should contain:

Þ A sandwich (as a source of carbohydrate and vitamins)

Þ A piece of fruit

Þ Water

Þ Yoghurt

Þ A small treat

Therefore, as part of our healthy eating policy, I will be monitoring the quality of packed lunches.  I will arrange for myself or a member of my team to meet with families to discuss ways in which we can ensure children have a healthy packed lunch.  I will also include Jo Burridge, our school nurse, to help work with families who have difficulty in identifying what should be in a packed lunch.

Many thanks for your cooperation in this matter.
